Why Medicine: I grew up in a third world country where doctors were viewed as heroes more than a profession. Because of this, I continuously found ways to help others whether it was in the medical field or elsewhere. I wasn’t thinking of doing this as a career, but when I saw the difference I could make in people, I quickly became really fascinated with medicine and began to pursue this more seriously.

Favorite Class at UK: BIO152
Why Medicine: I have always been super interested in the medical field. When I took biology for the first time my freshman year of high school I absolutely fell in love with the subject and really started to enjoy science for the first time. I was also involved in a lot of service clubs at the time, which I also really enjoyed. I view medicine as a way to combine my love for science with my love for finding ways to help people who need it. This has made me super passionate about being able to continue on a lifetime path of learning, in order to become an excellent physician one day.

Why Medicine: I want to be a doctor because it aligns with my two passions: curiosity and serving. I have a hankering curiosity and want to ask questions to learn how to improve the human body. Medicine is the perfect combination of service and science, and I couldn’t imagine choosing any other career. Not to mention, I grew up in a very small rural area with a tight knit community, and medicine is a way for me to come back and serve the people I value the most.
